First family outing

At 2 weeks and 2 days old we made our first outing to o's last soccer game. It was time to bust out!

She really enjoys playing soccer and it's great exercise! But she's working on being more aggressive!

First 2 weeks home

We have survived! Our first week home o was on spring break. I thought that would be ideal but turns out cabin fever is real! For kids and adults!

We've been to plenty of dr apts for weight checks and check ups. O went to ft worth to visit Jenny and John. And Matt started his new weekend option job. He'll be working every weekend (fri - sun) still on nights. Not gonna lie. It's harder than I thought it'd be. But once chandler starts sleeping through the night I know it will be better.

First time to have two kids in the car!

One week birthday!

Tanning in Texas.

Little Mermaid at Bass Hall with the Gatlins.

Our moms have been a huge help. Matts mom cleans and changes diapers! For real, one day she scrubbed baseboards. I don't even do that! And my mom slaved in the kitchen and STOCKED our freezer with food! We are so thankful for everything they've done!

Chandler has now met all his cousins and aunts/uncles. He's totally outnumbered on my side but will be rough housing with his boy cousins on matt's side in no time I'm sure!

For his 2 week birthday we celebrated with our first dinner out. Chandler was a total dream and slept through the whole dinner! Matt knows the way to love me is with sushi and wine!

Easter 2016

Was totally different! We obviously didn't attend church since we'd just gotten home the night before. So we did Easter bunny and hung at the house.

Major props to our moms who came through with baskets for chandler! I was totally unprepared to have him before Easter!

Showing chandler his bunny.

O has learned to apply makeup. And does it daily! And my wedges... She wears them everyday! Can walk a lot better than me in them!

Easter family photo. No Easter dresses or pretty hair but a memorable Easter that's for sure!

In the hospital

Having a baby on a holiday weekend is ideal! It was me and I think one other patient on the entire floor. Things were quiet and very relaxed! Because it was a holiday weekend our visitors were few and far between which allowed me to rest and us to get used to the idea of a baby. Lol.

Still very swollen.... I swear those girls that hop out of a hospital after giving birth in their pre-pregnancy jeans make me want to vomit!

O ended up going to Monroe after the section to stay with Jackie and finally made it back to Ruston late Friday afternoon. Once she decided she was ready to hold him all was right in my world. She's still really only interested if it's her idea but she is a great helper when we ask her to do things.

We were prepared to go home on Saturday until they told us he was jaundiced and we may not go home. So we spent Saturday in total limbo not knowing what the plan was. At about 5 pm they announced we were cleared to go home. It was just me and Matt and we scrambled to get him dressed. Too bad I hadn't gotten dressed bc I was sure we were staying another night!

They let me carry him and walk out of the hospital while Matt ran to get the car (where the car seat was just newly installed! I'm telling you - I'd prepared mentally to have a baby but not physically!) we had a few moments at home before o and our moms arrived and life as we knew it was forever changed!

Chandler David Thurman

He's here! A few weeks early but all is well. Here are the details:

He was due April 15. I started weekly NSTs early March where it was detected I was having contractions. My dr wanted me to quit work then but I talked him into one more week. Matt calls me a non-compliant patient. So that week I continued work while having contractions on and off but only worked half days a few of those days. My next NST was more of the same. The next week, March 24, I went for my third NST and the contractions were 3 min apart and I was 3 cm. Dumb me had eaten breakfast so I went home and packed a bag, checked o out of school and cleaned the house a little with the help of my mom! At 3 I drug Matt out of bed (for REAL) and the three of us headed up to the hospital. I'd discussed having the section that night with my dr earlier at my apt but I kinda thought they'd admit us, monitor and do it Friday morning - Good Friday. Wrong! We got into a room abt 4 and at 5:30 they wheeled me out to the OR. Chandler made his arrival at 6:01 pm. 8 lbs 11 oz; 20.75 inches.

He was large and in charge! Matt just made himself at home and hopped over the curtain for some pics that I promise I wont post here! My dr and all the nurses were awesome! It helped that Matt graduated nursing school with our main nurse and my dr is extremely laid back!

Chandler was holding his levels but was working very hard to do so. So they decided to take him to the NICU. I didn't learn this until in recovery. I was upset! But they assured me he was fine and doing well.

Matt in the NICU with him.

On the way to the NICU.

Everything turned out fine and they brought him to our room abt 11 pm. All of our family members were long gone so we got some precious family time together.

He is just precious and we are in love! Olivia is still getting used to not being an only child. It will come with time. She is a great helper and for now that's enough!
