how could i forget!!!

my great friend/coworker, emery, had her baby boy this morning! after a LONG induction and eventually a c-section she had baby hudson. i'm so happy for her and eric and i can't wait to meet hudson. i'm going to visit them tomorrow. however, it will probably be a few weeks before olivia and hudson get to meet. something about babies being together and germs.... i hope they grow up to be great friends like their mamas!

housekeeping

i've got some catching up to do!

let's start with father's day. we gave rett is present a few days early b/c i just like to give presents and couldn't hold off! olivia and i got rett a new bike helmet. he needed a new one b/c his had lost all of it's padding and, according to him, was uncomfortable. i can only imagine! here's a pic of olivia giving her daddy his present!then, that sunday my dad came over along with my sisters and we grilled hamburgers. here is a pic of rett and olivia playing on the floor actually celebrating father's day! fast foward past that... one night over the past two weeks after giving olivia a bath her daddy thought it would be funny to "mohawk" her hair. i get that's it's cute when you're at home; however, it was still "mohawked" the next day! we had to run errands with a mohawk! i guess i should just be thankful she still has hair!fast foward again to this past weekend. it was the annual peach festival here in ruston. rett and jackie ran in the 5k. it was jackie's 3rd race and rett's first! he did really well. they were hoping for a time of around 36 minutes. they actually finished in the 33 minute range! congrats to them! i meant to get a pic of both of them but i didn't know what jackie was wearing so i missed her. here is rett getting really close to the finish line! it's kind of far away but you get the idea!i had my 6 week checkup today! my doctor will not give me a magic diet pill. boo. without breastfeeding my weight is pretty much staying in one place. i'm pretty discouraged about that. i know i have to eat right and exercise but i see other new moms whose weight just fell off. mine is NOT doing that! i'd love to post some pics of me and olivia but i'm just not loving the way i look right now so i'll spare you those! hopefully over the next few weeks/months i'll start to lose this baby weight!

in good newsl...i got a hair cut today...with bangs! can't wait to show you some pics!

whoa!!

this morning i gave olivia her morning bottle about 9 and then laid her down on the playmat thingy for some tummy time. i use this time to straighten the house, dishes, etc... i came back in the living room and she had ROLLED OVER. now, i by no means know much about being a parent but from what i do know they aren't suppose to do this until at least 3 months. is that correct? now my plans for the day have changed; i'm now planning to sit here all day attempting to capture this on our video camera!

it's a miracle!

olivia slept through the night last night!!!! we put her down about 11 pm (wide awake) and i woke up at 5:45 to her grunting. i woke rett up to tell him that she had slept through the night. wow...to actually sleep all night. that's a new one!

photo shoot

olivia and i got really bored today so we had a photo shoot. hey, it's better than sweeping and mopping!

i took close to 50 pics but i'll spare you all of them!

the blanket she's laying on was started by my grandmother as soon as we told her i was pregnant. she wasn't able to finish it before she passed away so a friend of my mom's finished it. she (the friend) also made the hats - so cute!

1 month old!

olivia is one month old today! it really has flown by... i kind of don't want to go back to work (on july 20) but i have discovered that i was not meant to be a stay at home mom! here are some pics celebrating olivia's 1 month bday!

to celebrate her bday she spent the afternoon at aunt jackie's office so i could run errands and go to walmart. gotta love some free babysitting! when i got back to pick her up jackie's boss was feeding her....jackie didn't know how to do it!

on saturday rett played in a golf tourny so we took some pics on the couch!

and then on sunday rett came home from the tourny and took a nap on the floor with olivia!

boring week...

well, i've taken NO pictures since last sunday at the golf course. i'm terrible. i know. this week was extremely uneventful. monday my mom came over to babysit while i ran to monroe for a dentist appt. tuesday i took olivia to rett's softball game (she did great! slept the whole time!) wednesday and thursday we didn't leave the house. rett's dad came friday afternoon and spent the night on his way to colorado. so, since the week was so boring i have no pics. but, last night i tried a new recipe from kelly's korner recipe blog (http://kellyskornerrecipes.blogspot.com/) . it was soooo good! and SUPER easy! my kind of meal. paired with a salad and garlic bread...it was yummy!

Lemon Chicken with Green Beans and new potatos

This is our dinner at least two nights a week. I got the recipe from Jennie several months ago and I just love it. It's easy and fairly healthy. We are having it tonight. Yum!
6 tablespoons olive oil

2 lemons, 1 thinly sliced, 1 juiced

4 cloves garlic

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground pepper

3/4 lb green beans

8 small red potatoes, quartered

4 chicken breasts

Preheat oven to 450. Coat a large baking dish with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Arrange lemon slices from 1 lemon in a single layer on the bottom of the dish. In large bowl combine remaining olive oil, lemon juice of 2nd lemon, garlic, salt and pepper. Add green beans and toss to coat. Using tongs, remove green beans and arrange them on top of lemon slices. Add potatoes to same olive oil mixture and coat. Arrange on inside edge of dish on top of the beans. (I think it’s so pretty!) I also add a lemon pepper mixture on top of everything. It adds a lot of flavor.Place chicken in olive oil mixture and coat. Place chicken in dish. Roast for 40-50 minutes. Remove chicken and continue roasting potatoes/beans if necessary.
I use canned cut green beans because I love canned beans. Put I'm sure fresh or frozen would be just as good!

on a side note... yes, i left my child on the floor "playing" on the play mat thingy that she's too small for (see below post.) i'm not a terrible mother, i just needed 10 minutes to view this video!

a few firsts

we've had a few firsts here in the hamby household today! we broke out the playmat thingy to try it out. i think she's still a tad too little for it!

then, this afternoon we went out to RCC for olivia's first time on the golf course! now, i realize that she's too young to play with her daddy on the course and that it's awefully hot outside. rest assured that we stayed in the shade the whole time and were out there less than 30 minutes. let me just say that she LOVED the ride in the cart!

i can't wait until next summer when we can fully enjoy the pool out at RCC!

my dad (pops) went to visit his mom and sister this weekend in the woodlands. he brought back a quilt that they made for olivia. it's so cute! i can't wait to take it and olivia outside for some photos!

3 week birthday!

yesterday olivia turned 3 weeks old! to celebrate jackie and i took her to monroe. we visited daddy's office and went to target (don't worry, olivia didn't get to see the inside of the store. i want to wait a little longer for that!) rett had to feed her at his office b/c she was "this close" to pitching a really big fit!
